Client Name: U.S. Farmer
Client Website: www.usfarmer.com
About: U.S. Farmer is a leader in the agricultural trade publication industry. In 1999, the founders of U.S. Farmer started their business in the Kentuckiana region and in five years expanded to include 14 states covering the eastern United States. Recognizing the possibility of tremendous market advancement through the use of an Internet web solution, U.S. Farmer called on BluegrassNet Development.
Solution: BluegrassNet Development helped U.S. Farmer understand the capabilities of web services and what features they could offer to their users. As always, we weren't interested in building a web service to list the same listings they had in their magazine. We helped educate U.S. Farmer on all possibilities, and design a launch plan to not only include a listing feature, but to also offer a revenue source in online classified listings they never had before. In addition, we added the ability to have dealerships update their own listings, and an XML solution to allow U.S. Farmer to update their magazine with a simple XML package. Instead of having a team of employees to enter listings on the website, and a team to enter listings in the magazine, BGND designed an XML based system to allow the listings entered on the website to be downloaded via XML format and imported into Adobe PageMaker. U.S. Farmer immediately saved man hours through this combined effort.
